Recent News and Notes:

September 2, 2009

Coombs Motorsports qualified for the TD Banknorth 250 on July 19 by winning the second last chance qualifier with a half track lead, giving the team the 38'th starting position. This was Coombs Motorsports' first appearance in "the 250." The car was very strong all night, running with the top ten, but the team went down a lap on the first pit stop of the race. A brake issue also caused a pile-up under caution and knocked a shock off the front end of the 57. The pit crew quickly got the car patched up and got back out on the track. Driver Doug Coombs did finish the race in 24'th place eight laps down.

Coombs Motorsports would like to congratulate Eddie MacDonald on his dominant victory and wish him luck in the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 19, the same weekend that NASCAR takes to the track to start the 2009 Sprint Chase to the Cup. Coombs Motorsports would also like to thank everyone who came to help out during the race weekend. All the extra hands were greatly appreciated.

The week following the TD Banknorth 250 was busy for Coombs Motorsports who acquired sponsor, DA Forms and Printing, to race in the ACT Beech Ridge 150 hosted by Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Scraping the backstretch wall during the heat race sent the 57 to the consolation (consi) race. The car was running very well and when the checkers dropped was sitting in the outside pole position for the last chance race. Unforunately competitor, Glen Luce, did not slow down after the checkered flag while many cars did to exit the track and ended up driving over the hood of the 57 ending the team's race and season.

On August 22, Coombs Motorsports sold the 57 to Spud Speedway stand out, Austin Theriault. The team would like to congratulate Austin on winning his first late model race and keeping the 57's winning tradition going.

Had to start from the back in the heat and the feature but still managed to finish ninth. Overall, a good day and a solid start to the season. Due to the other racers checking up we have damage to the bumper and fan.
